AWANA exists to help children know, love, and follow Jesus Christ by hiding God’s Word in their hearts.
At Central Baptist Church, AWANA provides a fun, engaging, and Christ-centered environment where children can grow spiritually, build friendships, and learn biblical truths that will impact them for a lifetime.
Through Bible memory, games, activities, worship, missions, and hands-on learning, children are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Christ while having fun along the way.
What Is AWANA?
According to Awana.org, Awana is a global, nonprofit Christian ministry that provides Bible-based evangelism and discipleship programs for children and teens ages 2 to 18. It stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” and operates in more than 140 countries, reaching over 11 million children weekly through local churches and schools.
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

Purpose and Key Activities
Our AWANA ministry exists to partner with families in helping children develop a lifelong foundation of faith built upon God’s Word.
We believe children are never too young to begin learning Scripture, understanding God’s love, and discovering His purpose for their lives.
Through consistent Bible teaching, scripture memorization, discipleship, and encouragement, our goal is to help children become faithful followers of Christ.
Scripture Memorization: Children learn and memorize Bible verses to understand God’s Word.
Age-Specific Clubs: Programs are tailored for ages 2 through 18, utilizing small group handbooks and large group lessons.
Fun and Community: Weekly club meetings combine games, songs, and interactive learning to create a sense of belonging.
Outreach: Programs incorporate education about worldwide missions to encourage helping others.

Ages 3-4
Cubbies celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers by introducing them to God, His Word, and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Through stories, games, activities, songs, and memorable lessons, preschoolers begin developing a foundation of faith that can last a lifetime.
Sparks
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
Sparks helps children discover foundational biblical truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation, and the Bible.
Children earn recognition for scripture memory while participating in exciting games, activities, and lessons that help them understand God’s plan for their lives.
Truth & Training
Grades 3-6
Truth & Training challenges older children to grow deeper in their knowledge of God’s Word and apply biblical truth to everyday life.
Through Bible memory, discipleship, discussion, and hands-on learning, children are equipped to live out their faith confidently.

From check-in to dismissal, we strive to provide an atmosphere where families can feel confident and children can focus on having fun, building friendships, and growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
